Remember how I was documenting the progress of our Toy Room?
Well, life happened, and I never showed you the final product! We have been done for a few months now and actually using it almost everyday. It has been such a huge change for my kids and they love the space more than I could have imagined! I'm so glad we took the plunge and finally did it.
They actually play.
Like real play.
They pretend and make messes and get along... it's a dream.
Ok- not always.
But for the most part they do play and imagine and act like kids.
You can go HERE to see the previous posts about the progress.
And here it is today! All Done!
It really is not a huge change after all that construction was complete, we just moved in the toys and storage shelving. I was surprised at how we were able to fit every.single.toy in this room. (Except for the huge box full of stuffed animals- how do we have so many?!)
The only thing I purchased was the small table and chairs from IKEA- which was totally worth it!
My favorite thing about this room is that everything has a place- I have this weird love for storage. The kids know where everything goes and have several options when it comes to play time.
We have already done a big clean out and went through all the toys- they were very good helpers. We separated everything into "like" categories and were able to get rid of a lot of toys they never play with. They thought it was fun- poor kids! They think organizing is fun!!
And Im so glad we did hardwood floors in here- easy to clean- and even better to play on.
One day I was tending a bunch of kids and needed something to keep myself occupied (yeah, right!) so I made this big ol' wall hanging out of scraps I had in the garage. The kids helped me with the painting and cutting. It's heavy and big- perfect for al that empty wall space.
It was a quick free project and adds a little something fun to the room.
As for the space that used to be used to store toys...
It is now just a sitting/transitional area. I want to find or build a bigger bookshelf that has doors and more space for books, but until then this one is working just fine. I also wouldn't mind finding a treadmill and putting in this room- another day!
Like I said before, this space really has made a huge difference in the way the kids play, and they will clean it up (probably because I'm that mean mom and they are afraid of what might happen if they dont!) It also really helps that everything has a place to go.
Another day I'll have to show you my storage room (the room we cut in half to make this room from) it is still large and we have plenty of room to grow. It's crazy to think that all this space was just used to store things we never use!
Next on my list: The space under the stairs! I've already started that project and am super excited to show you what it will soon become!

So now that you have a toy room, you totally need a GARGANTUAN dollhouse to go in there!!... Just sayin', I know where you could get one!
Your home is beautiful, I love it! Oh and also - why didn't you take my treadmill that I got rid of?....
Where did you get that awesome kitchen for your girls??? I want one just like it for my daughter's 2nd birthday. It's a year away, but I might as well start saving now. :)
The toy room looks amazing!! I am so jealous. Your house is beautiful. I love it!
