Kunz Reunion 2014: The Hike

We had our Annual Kunz Reunion this past weekend, this year it was held in Driggs at Darby Girls Camp in the Teton Mountains.
When I was really little I went there a few times, but don't really remember it. It was beautiful and between the cabins/lodge/and bathroom set up it wasn't really camping- it was all really nice.
And the mountains were breathtaking.
We spent the night Friday and then got up Saturday and headed out with a bunch of our family to go on a hike to Monument/Cave Falls. Lets just be real- I am not a hiker!  I was pleasantly surprised though how fun it all was- that might have been because of the people I was with! The surroundings were beautiful and the weather was perfect.

See that vertical line (Cave) in the mountain near the top of this picture? That is Cave Falls- this was  about half way there.

This was us thinking we might die- well, only My mom and I thought we might die!! Everyone else in our family is super fit and do these kinds of things all the time! Everyone else made it up there basically running and not even breaking a sweat!! (They told us it was a easy hike!) I was just super grateful Scott and Michelle (below) stuck with us and motivated us the entire time! We had so much fun with them and laughed the entire way- and sweat our guts out!

Here I'm trying off some of my Vanna White skills- not very successful.
I was just happy that we were almost there! (And wishing I would have wore a t-shirt!)
These two kids are two of my favorite people ever! Sydney and Laken, I had such a great time talking and just hanging out with them all weekend. I tried really hard to convince them to move to Rigby with me and go to BYU-idaho- I was unsuccessful! Believe it or not they are currently living in Saudi Arabia- yeah, crazy! Laken is going to Indiana to a boarding school in the next few weeks, which seems like its not that far away?! Anyway, they are amazing. Such great kids and they have had such amazing experiences, I only dream of doing half of what they have done.

And we all made it to the Cave!
I had no excuses- there were several small children and 2 pregnant ladies that did this 8.5 mile hike (4.25in and out) and never complained!! It took us about 4 hours and I felt VERY out of shape!! They all motivated me to do better and I'm excited to try and do more of these kinds of things with my little family.
 Going down was MUCH easier!

I'm really glad I challenged myself and went- it was defiantly a challenge for me.
The Hike was great, but more than that I'm so grateful I was able to go and spend several hours in the  mountains surrounded by these family members and just get to know them, talk, and laugh with them.  I feel like I have a deeper love for them.  Im so thankful for this family I have.
It's amazing what a little fresh air and several miles of walking can do for your soul.
