I tend to sound like a broken record when it comes to reading this blog! "We are so busy, I'm a terrible blogger, the weather has been beautiful... blah blah blah!" You get the idea.
I will say this "I am more than ready for School to start!"
Anyone else?!
I feel like our summer has been full of fun family outings, lazy water days, and lots and lots of sunshine. Those things are all great, but, it is also full of crazy schedules, whiny children, expensive weekends, and a very tired momma. I'm more than ready for things to settle down and to get back into a routine. I think my kids are even feeling the same way!
We do have a few weeks left and hopefully we can fit all the things that we still want to do in those few days- like go to Rexburg Rapids and the splash park (Nope, we havent done either this summer), do some Fishing, see a movie at the Drive-in, and the kids are dreaming of a few more sleepovers with cousins. I just need a few more hours in the day!
We did however cross off a few things from our Summer Bucket List last weekend in Island Park with the family. We were able to ride our four wheelers to the top of Sawtelle Mountain on Saturday morning, then later that day we floated the river. It was my first time going all the way to the top of Sawtelle- we attempted it once while I was dating Randall and I got so scared of how high we were that I made him turn around!! I am TERRIFIED of heights and might be a huge wimp! (For the record we were driving in his truck and the road to the top is very windy and very narrow- and it was winter!!) This time was much better and not to scary! The kids loved every minute and had a blast running around the top of them mountain checking everything out. I did have some minor anxiety! It was a beautiful morning and you could see for miles, I couldn't get over how grateful I felt that we live in such a amazing place!
It was surprisingly pretty warm up there- we were prepared to be freezing!
It was a lot of fun and I defiantly recommend it!
After that we had a quick lunch at the cabin then changed into our swimming suits and headed to Big Springs to float the river down to Macks Inn.
These were the only pictures I took because I didnt dare take my camera with us in the raft! I can't get over how cute and tiny little Leighton looks compared to all these cousins! She thinks she's big stuff!
Mason, Mack, Trent, Reese, Carmen, Addison, Paige, Leighton, Kellen, Bo
It was a crazy little trip down the river! First Bo (the Baby!) took a nose dive into the water- right when we started! Then Romero about got trampled by a moose- funny story! We were scared for our lives as we thought we might be caught in a thunder/lighting rain storm- but we were blessed and it just missed us! And just as we were about to finish I jumped out of the raft to help push and lost a flip flop and then I was abandoned! I had to cross the river and walk the rest of the way!
It was still pretty fun and I think I laughed the entire ride watching my BIL Romero try and paddle himself and his "dingy" down the shallow river! He didn't laugh as much as we did!
We were surprised with how long rafting took and made it to the cabin in time to start making dinner. I went in my room and was reading and everyone else ending up leaving for another four wheeler ride. I came out to a very quiet cabin, it was wonderful.
After a few hours they returned with a few new friends in tow...
They were all really excited to show me the little frogs they had caught. I thought they were kinda gross, but kinda cute?! Sadly I crushed their little dreams and told them they couldn't keep them- so they let them go free in the trees.
We spent the rest of the night just playing around the cabin talking and watching the kids run wild.
It was such a nice weekend, but always seems to end way to fast.
It's so great to go to the Cabin with this guy, he loves it there and seems to be in his element. I actually think its fun to go anywhere with him- he is really the best part of any vacation.
I'm looking forward to fall/winter and seeing him more, summers are hard on us because he is gone so much. There are some weeks where we only see each other for a few minutes- it's awful.
I feel like I live for weekends.
