Earlier in the month we decided to plan a trip to SLC to see the lights and Temple square. Because of the time of year, and how busy everyone was, we ended waiting until the weekend after Christmas to go. We were all able to make it besides Clint and Lauren's family- they had to be in Rexburg for a wedding.
We all met up on the 26th at the Marriott in Downtown SLC. The hotel was beautiful and we were all really excited to get to stay together- but in our own rooms! We were right next to City Creek Mall and ended up eating there each night. There was A TON of people, and I had some serious anxiety with the crowds- I preferred to be at the hotel! Once the kids settled down we did lots of swimming and running from room to room.
During the night Randall was hit with the flu.
He spent the rest of the night and next day in bed puking and sleeping. I felt really bad for him, he wasn't able to spent Christmas with us, and now he wasn't able to enjoy our little vacation. We decided to let him rest at the hotel while we took the kids out. He wasn't a very happy person.
Saturday we went to Park City to do some sledding. We found this awesome golf course that people used for sledding! It was awesome and free!! The weather was pretty great and the kids had a blast. Grandpa and Grandma even went down the hill a few times.
I couldn't get over how fear-less my girls were! They are usually so timid and scared of everything! Not this day, they went down the hill a hundred times and never stopped!
Miss Leighton would jump on her sled and lay down flat- they she took out anyone and everyone in her path!! Walking up and down the hill really wore them all out! Thank heavens for Uncle Kyle and Scott- they dragged and carried them up a hundred times!
My camera had a hard time working because it was so cold! So I ended up putting it away before the funniest thing ever happened!!
We were standing on top of a small hill, across from us was another small hill. We saw a little mouse running over that hill and I happened to point it out to Mack. Well he took off after it! Him and a bunch of other people started running for the mouse trying to catch it. He was in the lead and managed to wrangle it into a little hole of snow. My nephew Brenner and him were holding on to it and trying to pick it up when all of a sudden it got loose and RAN UP MACKS PANT LEG!!!
Mack was jumping and flinging his arms, at one point he laid down and was flailing his legs in the air! It lasted about 3-4 minutes of him screaming and jumping around like a crazy person before the mouse got loose and ran off!! OMG I died!
The rest of us (on the other hill) lost it! Im not sure I have ever laughed that hard!! I could not breathe! We all were jumping and screaming for him to take off his pants, jump around, you name it! But we could not stop laughing, it was so funny. I still can't get over it!
Once the mouse got loose Mack grabbed it and then took it over to a tree to let it go! It didn't really phase him, he never cried or made any reaction really! He thought it was funny that we were all laughing so hard! He is such a chill kid! Anyway, It made my entire trip! (Guess you had to be there!)
Once we all got a hold of ourselves, which took a while, we decided to head back to the hotel and go get something to eat. We met up with Randall and then walked to Temple Square to see the lights. It to was jam packed with people, but the lights were amazing and it was nice to just enjoy them for a while.
Im pretty sure I spent that whole night counting heads! I was so worried we were going to loose someone- I just kept counting making sure they were all there!
The kids did great- despite the cold and all the people.
After all that we decided to go back to the hotel and order pizza, the kids spent the night swimming and playing together. I went to bed early!
It was a much needed vacation and a great few days spent with family.
(Then on our way home the next morning I got the flu. That ride home was not fun.)
